Linda Loudermilk Follows Garden Runway Show With Trunk Show to Benefit Chrysalis

Following last week's garden runway show of
the luxury eco by Linda Loudermilk fall '05 collection, Linda Loudermilk is
holding a trunk show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 1 to benefit Chrysalis,
a non-profit organization that helps economically disadvantaged and
homeless people become self-sufficient through jobs. Loudermilk will
discuss the inspiration for her fall '05 collection, which includes
sea-inspired jellyfish prints, sweaters with "tentacles" like an octopus
and the Hope Series, which incorporates images from acclaimed photographer
Steve McCurry. Her current spring collection will be sold to guests at
special friends and family prices, with 10% of all proceeds going directly
to Chrysalis.

Loudermilk is the first high-end fashion designer to use sustainable,
organic and recycled fabrics, such as sasawashi (from a Japanese leaf),
bamboo jersey, organic cotton, reclaimed European lace, soya (from
soybeans), Lenpur (from wood pulp), and Eco-Spun, made from recycled
plastic bottles blended with cotton.
Loudermilk's April 23 fashion show, which had a runway crossing her
swimming pool, was attended by some of Los Angeles' fashion elite. Her
designs grace many celebrities, including Debra Messing, Jennifer Beals,
Maria Bello, Jane Fonda, Tori Amos, and Mariel Hemingway, who donned her
Katherine Dress and Otter Jacket (not made from otter, of course) at the
LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) 9 Forum on April 26, where
she spoke about "Getting LOHAS to the Tipping Point." Sharon Lawrence wore
Loudermilk's fashions when she presented the Outstanding Sustainable Style
Awards, given by the Sustainable Style Foundation.
Loudermilk also spoke at LOHAS 9, sharing her thoughts on "Building LOHAS
Community." As the founder of the luxury eco Social Network, she brings
together people and companies who seek and provide ecologically-sound
luxury products. Loudermilk will soon open the luxury eco by Linda
Loudermilk store on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood to offer these
products directly to consumers.
The runway show and the trunk show were sponsored by Real Food Daily and
Izze Beverages, who supplied the food and beverages respectively. Sponsors
of the fashion show also included Suki skincare, Rapunzel chocolates and
Blue.
