Semantic Designs Joins Mainframe Migration Alliance
AUSTIN, Texas (EWORLDWIRE) Apr 18, 2005
Semantic Designs Inc., a 10 year leader in delivering automated software tools and solutions for optimizing large systems, today announced it has joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA), an organization created by Microsoft and industry partners to help customers easily and efficiently migrate workloads off the mainframe and onto the Microsoft Windows platform.
, Salt Lake City, April 18-21)
"Semantic Designs is an ideal member of the MMA because we have a decade's worth of practical experience in addressing migration problems," said Ira Baxter, Semantic Designs CEO and CTO. "Our enterprise-class transformation tool, the DMS(R)(TM) Software Reengineering Toolkit, has been designed for scale and flexibility, and is capable of automatically translating an arbitrary mixture of mainframe languages directly to the Microsoft .NET Framework or any other desired target. In addition, we also offer several .NET, Visual C#, SQL and Visual Basic solutions to aid in transformations and are pleased to share our expertise with both MMA partner and customer communities."
"Mainframe customers often have special requirements, such as the ability to reliably handle thousands of transactions per second coupled with all-too-brief maintenance windows. Successfully migrating those applications while preserving functionality requires a deep understanding of both the mainframe and target platforms," said Spyros Sakellariadis, Mainframe Migration Alliance director at Microsoft Corporation. "We are pleased to extend our relationship with Semantic Designs, whose expertise in migrating multiple legacy languages and databases can provide mainframe customers with specific resources that help prepare them to migrate in an automated fashion to the desired platform."
