Nayika Announces New Enterprise Firewalls
Includes new security features such as IPS
WATFORD, England (EWORLDWIRE) Apr 15, 2005
Nayika, a British technology start-up, has announced a new range of enterprise firewall products. The rackmount firewalls are only half-depth and come with a range of features: fail-over monitoring, high availability, Gigabit ethernet interfaces, and the newest Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).
A major feature of the firewall product range is that they are pure firewalls. Increasingly, firewalls these days have VoIP, VPN and a plethora of other characteristics that make firewalls less secure and more susceptible to attack. Even if a number of services such as VPN may not be used, the very fact that a VPN tunnel exists is a security whole. Nayika firewalls, on the other hand, have been designed not to implement VoIP or VPN.
"Many of our competitors do not have IPS in any of their firewalls although they do have IDS", said Nayan Ruparelia, the development team lead. "But intrusion detection and prevention is far better, and more secure, than just intrusion detection on its own."
Each model of the firewall also sports high availability features that ping the downstream routers to monitor their presence. This is unique since other firewall manufacturers provide firewalls with only peer-to-peer heartbeats for failover purposes.
Nayika will be showcasing its new product range at the InfoSecurity Exhibition Canada exhibition (from June 15 to 16) in Toronto as well as at the Comms Channel exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, England from April 12 to 13, 2005.
