Expert Panel Delivers 'Strategic Considerations' for Electronic Discovery at ALM Events E-Discovery Spring Congress
Education Session Sponsored by Attenex Features Industry Veterans Kathy McFarland, of Counsel at Lovells, and Dan Sedor, Partner at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Marmaro LLP, Presenting E-Discovery Insights and Successes

Attenex® Corp., a developer of electronic
document review software for litigation and regulatory response, today
announced it will host an educational session at the upcoming ALM Events
E-Discovery Spring Congress on April 14, 2005, at the Palace Hotel in San
Francisco. The session, beginning with breakfast at 8:30 a.m., will
feature a panel of industry experts presenting recent electronic discovery
case studies and discussing best practices.
Session speakers include Kathy McFarland, of counsel at Lovells
International, discussing how the use of e-discovery technology helped the
firm to deliver its client a 75 percent cost savings on a recent matter.
A forward-thinking firm, Lovells is recognized for its advanced use of
technology to provide clients with the best results possible. McFarland
will also share how new discovery technology and techniques enable law
firms to review documents faster and more cost-effectively as proven by
Lovells' experience.
Following McFarland, Dan Sedor, a partner at Jeffer Mangels & Marmaro LLP,
will reveal his experience in using e-discovery technology in the
Medtronic v. Michelson case, which eliminated expensive and time-consuming
steps during the data processing and analysis steps. According to
McFarland, "Attenex's use of concept mapping to group key words by
concepts and relationships was a key factor for us when we were
considering electronic discovery solutions in the Medtronic case. This
approach shows a clear understanding of how lawyers think about and
process a discovery request, and provides a powerful and efficient
litigation tool."
The closing speaker, Skip Walter, chief technology officer, Attenex, will
outline a framework that can be employed early in case strategy to
accurately assess the discovery effort given the cost and difficulty in
dealing with today's volumes and varieties of electronic documents. A
technology expert and frequent speaker at industry events, Walter has
developed an effective methodology for helping firms keep the discovery
effort in proportion to the needs of the case.
Registration for the Attenex bonus session can be completed online using
the registration page at www.attenex.com/ediscovery, or in person at the
e-Discovery Conference by visiting Attenex at tabletop #4. Please note
that space is limited.
