Cast Iron Systems, the pioneer of data integration appliances, announced today it has received an additional $14 million in financing, and the addition of new investors: Evercore Ventures, LLC, ITOCHU Corporation and CTC. These new investors join INVESCO Private Capital, Norwest Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital. To date, Cast Iron Systems has secured $34.3 million in venture capital. The new Series D capital will be used to expand sales, marketing and engineering efforts as the company continues to broaden its market opportunities.

Cast Iron Systems provides an appliance-based approach to connecting applications that is enabling Fortune 500 companies to slash the time and cost of data integration by up to 80%. The Application Router(TM) is a self-contained appliance that delivers everything needed to connect application data and/or business partners. Just as the network router revolutionized networking with a simple, reliable, low-cost device, the Application Router does the same for disparate application data.

"We are pleased to join the elite group of investors that shares the same vision of Cast Iron Systems and the exploding data integration market," said Takashi Kameda of ITOCHU Technology, Inc. (ITI), an ITOCHU subsidiary company. "Cast Iron Systems has developed a one of a kind product, the Application Router, which continues to solve critical problems for our customers. The company's ability to attract customers, and its experienced executive team, will serve it well as it continues to blaze a trail in the data integration market."

"Our momentum continues to be reflected by strong interest from the venture capital community. This latest round of financing will help Cast Iron as it expands into new markets and further develops its sales, marketing and engineering as we build out our vision of the Application Network," said Fred Meyer, CEO and president of Cast Iron Systems.

Cast Iron Systems' executive team is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Fred Meyer. Meyer brings more than 19 years of leadership and industry experience to the Cast Iron team. Prior to joining Cast Iron, Meyer served as TIBCO's Chief Marketing Officer for a number of years before becoming Chief Strategy Officer, where he defined TIBCO's long-term vision.
