The PETsMART board of directors today announced the election of Rod Geant to senior vice president, real estate and construction, effective March 28.

Geant, who joined PETsMART in 2004 as vice president of real estate and construction, is responsible for site selection and approval, lease administration, development, construction, facilities management and research.

"As we continue to grow and expand at a rapid rate, the role of selecting new stores and managing existing properties takes on increasingly greater importance in the organization. Rod's promotion is a reflection of the elevated nature of this function and his leadership," said Phil Francis, PETsMART chairman and chief executive officer.

Before joining PETsMART, Geant was vice president of transaction management for CB Richard Ellis. He previously held senior real estate management positions with Hannaford Bros. Co. (now a division of Del Haize), and owned his own business, which specialized in real estate for retailers.

In other business, the board declared a quarterly common stock cash dividend of 3 cents per share. The dividend is payable May 20, 2005, to shareholders of record at the close of business April 29, 2005.

PETsMART, Inc., is the largest specialty retailer of services and solutions for the lifetime needs of pets. The company operates more than 725 pet stores in the United States and Canada, a growing number of PETsHOTELs, as well as a large pet supply catalog business and the Internet's leading online provider of pet products and information www.petsmart.com)">. PETsMART provides a broad range of competitively priced pet food and supplies, and offers complete pet training, grooming and adoption services. Since 1994, PETsMART Charities, an independent 501(c)3 organization, has donated more than $35 million to animal welfare programs and, through its in-store adoption programs, has saved the lives of more than two million pets.
