Appgen Updates Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Tools
InsynQ, Inc. and Appgen Software
Solutions, a division of Aptus Corp., announced today the completion of
updates to database integration tools for the Appgen version 6.2 systems,
including the Appgen 4GL Development System, Appgen Custom Suite
applications, and the award-winning MyBooks Professional small business
accounting and finance software.
Appgen uses advanced query technology components to provide integration or
access to the Appgen database. These components are designed for databases
that need to support high volume transaction systems and query-intensive
data warehouse type applications. This integration provides a high
performance, functionally complete SQL interface compatible with the
SQL-92, ODBC 3.5, NET 1.1, JDK 1.4 and JDBC 2 standards, and is provided
within a framework that takes maximum advantage of the underlying Appgen
database management system.
"Our implementation of the standard ODBC in our database technology allows
our expert resellers to meet their customers' needs by linking their Appgen
solution to a host of popular desktop applications, such as MS Office, Open
Office, and others," stated John P. Gorst, Chief Executive Officer for
Appgen.
The Appgen database is an integral part of the Appgen Run Time. It is a
variable-length relational database that allows unlimited records,
unlimited record size, unlimited fields, unlimited field sizes, and
one-to-many relationships within data records. This powerful database
structure is supported by the Appgen ODBC Driver that makes data trading
with other applications easy in a standard manner.
With Appgen, any views of the application data may be defined to allow
users to easily transfer data between their Appgen applications and current
versions of almost all popular desktop productivity products available
today, such as Microsoft Office or Crystal Reports. The Appgen Development
System also includes utilities that can import ASCII data into any Appgen
database, and an export utility that allows creation of ASCII output of any
combinations of data in Appgen files.
