CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., March 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation has won NASA's premier honor, the George M. Low Award, in two of the four categories in which it is presented for demonstrated excellence and outstanding technical and managerial achievements in quality and performance.

Space Gateway Support, a joint venture led by Northrop Grumman, was presented the Low Award in the large business-services category at NASA's 19th Continual Improvement and Reinvention Conference.

Earlier this month, the company's Space Technology sector announced that it received the Low Award for the large business-product category.

"We are committed to continuous improvement for our Spaceport customer and providing unique solutions in the changing space launch and base operations industry," said Gregory Donley, president of Northrop Grumman Information Technology's (IT) technical services business unit. "We have been supporting the Cape Canaveral Spaceport since 1998 and are extremely pleased that our partner, Kennedy Space Center, nominated us for this prestigious award."

The George M. Low Award was named after a NASA leader who was dedicated to quality and excellence. Low's career and achievements spanned many fields, including space science, aeronautics, technology and education. In the space program, Low provided management and direction for the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and advanced pilot mission programs.

"This award signifies NASA's recognition that Space Gateway Support has demonstrated commitment to Spaceport operations," said Bill Sample, president of Space Gateway Support. "We are dedicated to helping NASA provide safe, affordable access to space through premier base support. This significant award indicates our team commitment to our customers and the dedication of our employees."

Space Gateway Support, a joint venture by Northrop Grumman's IT sector and Wackenhut Services Inc., Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., was created in 1998 to support the Joint Base Operations and Support Contract (J-BOSC) for the Cape Canaveral Spaceport. Space Gateway Support provides all the infrastructure support needed for launch and base operations at the Spaceport. The pioneering J-BOSC contract combines and streamlines service previously provided under multiple contracts under a single support contract. The ten-year, $3 billion contract was awarded to Northrop Grumman in 1998. Northrop Grumman has approximately 3,000 Space Gateway Support and J-BOSC team partner employees.

Northrop Grumman Information Technology, headquartered in McLean, Va., is a trusted IT leader and premier provider of advanced IT solutions, engineering and business services for government and commercial clients. The company's technological leadership spans such areas as homeland security solutions, health IT solutions, secure wireless, cyber and physical assurance, IT and network infrastructure, managed services, knowledge management, modeling and simulation, and geospatial intelligence solutions.
