MSX Strengthens Its Management Team With the Addition of Two Engineering Veterans

CTIA -- MSX, providing rich mobile
subscriber experiences (formerly MVoem), has announced that it has
strengthened its engineering team with two key personnel additions. David
Calaprice has been appointed Vice President of Engineering, joining MSX
from Macromedia. Chris Richardson has been appointed Vice President of
Technology, joining MSX from Insignia Solutions.
David Calaprice is a seasoned software industry professional with over
fourteen years experience in rich media and business software development.
Most recently as a VP of Engineering at Macromedia, David managed the
engineering team creating the company's new Central environment, an
innovative platform for building, managing, and running standalone Flash
applications. Prior to Central, David led the Director Engineering
organization which produced Macromedia's flagship Director and Shockwave
products.
Chris Richardson has had over nineteen years of experience architecting and
developing a wide range of innovative and successful software systems
including mobile carrier provisioning, object-oriented frameworks,
interactive development environments and compilers. Before MSX, Chris was
the Chief Architect at Insignia Solutions responsible for designing their
successful mobile phone management platform. Previously, Chris was a
technical leader at BEA, Kaleida and responsible for architecting
carrier-grade server solutions for mobile operators around the world,
including Virgin Mobile.
The MSX Server enables rich deeply branded end-to-end services for brand
focused mobile operators such as MVNOs. These branded rich services are
created, published and managed within the operator's infrastructure. The
MSX Server also acts as a conduit to provide mobile services authored using
standard design tools to access legacy systems within the network. The MSX
Engine provides a flexible user operating environment on low power
mass-market feature phones. The entire phone experience is handled via the
MSX Engine, while also providing consistent launch environments to
traditional mobile service silos such as J2ME, QUALCOMM BREW, I-Mode, or
Nokia Series 60 platforms.
About MSX
MSX (formerly MVoem) enables unique, rich and powerful end-end mobile
subscriber experiences. The MSX platform allows an MVNO, traditional
operator or consumer brand to create mobile experiences and services on
mass-market phones while leveraging open standards. The MSX platform
provides a vector based engine that runs on low power high volume
platforms, such as those based on ARM7, which is coupled with a robust
carrier-grade management server.
