Irdeto Access Launches Irdeto PIsys for Mobile at CTIA

CTIA Wireless 2005 -- Irdeto Access, a world leader in content security and subsidiary of multinational media group Naspers today announced Irdeto PIsys for Mobile, a unique content security solution that protects video broadcasts to wireless devices such as mobile phones, PDAs and specialized in-car devices.

As digital entertainment becomes more interactive, mobile operators are looking to rich-media content services like live mobile video and audio to increase and diversify revenue streams and secure customer loyalty. With Irdeto PIsys for Mobile, Irdeto Access empowers wireless operators to protect these high-value services from unauthorized access and guarantees that only paying customers can listen and watch. Unlike other Digital Rights Management (DRM) solutions meant for lower-value content like ringtones, games and graphics, Irdeto PIsys for Mobile is based on the same proven technology that protects digital pay TV services worldwide.

Irdeto PIsys for Mobile is the first conditional access system for mobile video, providing operators with the tools to secure the revenue for premium content delivered to consumers. The solution applies to audio, video and data services and supports a variety of business models, ranging from subscriptions to pay per view, and works for Satellite and Terrestrial Digital Media Broadcasting (DMB) networks as well as DVB-H networks.
