Sipura Technology and BridgePort Networks Partner to Bring MobileVoIP to Homes and Offices
Companies to Expand Market for SIP Based Mobility Applications and Infrastructure

Sipura Technology, a leader in
SIP based VoIP telephony endpoint equipment, and BridgePort Networks, a
leader in MobileVoIP convergence, announced today that the companies will
collaborate to enable MobileVoIP services over Sipura's SPA analog
telephone adapters (ATAs) and VoIP phones. The companies will work together
to ensure compatibility of Sipura's product line with BridgePort Networks'
NomadicONE(TM) Network Convergence Gateway (NCG). As a result, users will
be able to send and receive calls using a single mobile or fixed line phone
number either through a Sipura ATA or from a Sipura IP phone or a multimode
cellular/Wi-Fi mobile phone.
MobileVoIP turns the Internet into a large mobile roaming network, creating
an opportunity for mobile carriers and service providers to offer
feature-rich and improved service levels that take advantage of Internet
economics. Sipura's and BridgePort Networks' plans to develop a tightly
coupled MobileVoIP solution will enable mobile operators and other service
providers to offer MobileVoIP solutions for fixed-mobile convergence or
fixed-mobile substitution bundles to subscribers.
"One of the key propositions of MobileVoIP is the ability for service
providers to offer end users lower cost services with greater flexibility
and better quality of service," said Jan Fandrianto, president and CEO of
Sipura Technology. "By working with BridgePort Networks, we're helping to
bring the worlds of mobility and VoIP together so that end users will
benefit from the economics and conveniences of MobileVoIP."
BridgePort Networks' solutions, based on the NomadicONE NCG, are the
industry's leading platform for MobileVoIP convergence. The solutions
bridge cellular roaming technology compatible with mobile networks
(including GSM, CDMA and 3G) and VoIP based on the open SIP (Session
Initiation Protocol) standards. Based on open standards, the solutions
bridge signaling, call control and authentication between the SIP based
VoIP world and the SS7 based core mobile network, cost effectively
delivering mobile services over VoIP networks and VoIP calls to mobile
phones.
"This relationship with Sipura marks a leap forward for MobileVoIP by
enabling us to offer service providers a broad range of device options for
end users," said Mike Mulica, president and CEO of BridgePort Networks.
"Our diverse device approach allows all operators to immediately
go-to-market with an offering that maps to specific communications user
segments."
