2005 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Teams to Be Announced

The official announcement of the 2005 McDonald's All American High School
Boys and Girls Teams
-- Boys Team - The official announcement will take place on Wednesday,
February 23 at 4:00 p.m. (EST) on ESPN News®.
-- Girls Team - The official announcement will take place on Sunday,
February 27 during halftime of the SEC Game that begins at 2:00 p.m.
(EST) on ESPN2®.

WHY:
Forty-eight players have been selected to participate in the prestigious
McDonald's All American Basketball Games for their skills both on and off
the basketball court. The 28th anniversary McDonald's All American High
School Basketball Boys Game and the fourth annual Girls Game take place on
Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the Joyce Center in South Bend, IN. The Boys
Game will be broadcast live on ESPN starting at 8 p.m. (EST) and the Girls
Game will air Thursday, March 31 at 5 p.m. (EST), on ESPN2. Proceeds from
the 2005 McDonald's All American Game® will benefit Ronald McDonald House
Charities® of Fort Wayne and South Bend, IN.
BACKGROUND:
Approximately 2,500 top high school boys and girls basketball players were
nominated to the McDonald's All American Teams. A committee of prominent
boys and girls basketball experts selected the final team members. Morgan
Wootten, who had more than 1,200 wins as head basketball coach at DeMatha
High School (Hyattsville, MD), serves as chairman of the selection
committee and legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, who has been involved in
the McDonald's All American Game since its inception, serves as overall
chairman of the Game and as an advisor to the selection committee.
