Ulticom Unveils New IMS-Ready Signalware Package
Launches Comprehensive Program to Accelerate Converged Fixed-Mobile Applications

At the 3GSM World
Congress conference, Ulticom, Inc. , the premier provider of
signaling software solutions, today announced a comprehensive program to
help accelerate the deployment of fixed-mobile solutions that utilize the
IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture. IMS is rapidly becoming the de
facto service delivery architecture for fixed, wireless, and cable
networks. Based on the widely deployed Signalware platform, the IMS-Ready
Signalware package combines products and services designed to address the
complex challenges associated with implementing communications services in
a converged network environment.
As a trusted partner to network equipment manufacturers and application
developers around the world, Ulticom supplies standards-based signaling
solutions that simplify service creation and help promote service
innovation. IMS-Ready Signalware combines the comprehensive Signalware
development and deployment environment with subject matter consultation to
support a staggered and varied migration path toward an IMS architecture
driven by specific service provider needs.
The cornerstone of the package is a complete set of carrier-grade signaling
software necessary for the development and deployment of IMS network
components and applications:
-- Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) - Enables multimedia session control
and service management
-- Diameter - Facilitates the exchange of subscriber data for
authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) purposes and service
mobility management
-- GSM Mobile Application Part (MAP) and TIA/EIA-41 MAP - Provide the
mobility management basis for interworking with 2.5G visited networks
-- CAMEL Application Part (CAP) and Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) -
Create virtual home environments for roaming subscribers by interworking
between IMS and legacy CAMEL environments for service convergence
-- Intelligent Network Application Part (INAP) and Advanced Intelligent
Network (AIN) - Allow access to service logic residing in the legacy
switched circuit network
-- SS7 and SIGTRAN - Provide connectivity with existing signaling
networks
Key to the IMS-Ready program is the inclusion of Ulticom's highly skilled
professional services consultants to help customers implement creative
approaches that maximize return on investment and provide a seamless
service experience. Backed by Ulticom's world-class customer care
organization, this comprehensive program enables the rapid delivery of IMS
applications in a manageable, phased approach.
"Service providers will be compelled to adapt to an IMS-based network
architecture to protect and leverage their existing value proposition,"
said Shawn Osborne, president and CEO of Ulticom. "IMS-Ready Signalware
simplifies the task by providing a common, reusable, and flexible
infrastructure that allows vendors to focus R&D resources on their core
value-added capabilities."
"As the industry moves towards all IP-core networks, service providers must
integrate next-generation services with existing network infrastructure to
ensure a consistent user experience," said XJ Wang, senior analyst at The
Yankee Group. "To help fill the gap, IMS vendors can benefit from Ulticom's
proven expertise in providing carrier-grade software and services when
developing IMS network components."
The IMS-Ready Signalware package will be featured this week in the Ulticom
booth (Stand D25, Hall 2) at the 3GSM World Congress conference in Cannes,
France. For additional information on IMS-Ready Signalware, please visit
