Antiques Roadshow Announces Summer 2005 Tour
Programs Taped This Year Will Air as ROADSHOW's Tenth Anniversary Season on PBS in 2006

ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, PBS's top-rated primetime
series, has announced its summer 2005 Tour destinations: Providence, Rhode
Island; Tampa, Florida; Houston, Texas; Bismarck, North Dakota, and Los
Angeles, California. Programs taped in those locations will make up
ROADSHOW's tenth anniversary broadcast season in 2006. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW
premiered on PBS in January 1997.
Underwritten by Toyota and Liberty Mutual Insurance, the ANTIQUES ROADSHOW
2005 Tour features a series of local events at which top appraisers offer
the public free evaluations of objects -- revealing the history and value
of America's "hidden treasures." The most interesting finds from each city
will be taped for broadcast in 2006.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW 2005 stops and dates include:

Providence, Rhode Island June 18, 2005
Tampa, Florida June 25, 2005

Ticketing rules and deadlines will be available beginning March 14 at
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW Online at pbs.org/antiques or by dialing toll-free
1-888-762-3749. Ticket holders are invited to bring two items for a free
verbal evaluation by experts from the world's leading auction houses --
including Bonhams & Butterfields, Christie's, Doyle New York, Skinner and
Sotheby's
-- and by leading independent appraisers and dealers. All ticket holders
are guaranteed an appraisal.
Part adventure, part history lesson, and part treasure hunt, ANTIQUES
ROADSHOW begins its ninth broadcast season Monday, January 3, 2005, with
host Lara Spencer. Episodes were taped last summer, when ANTIQUES ROADSHOW
drew more than 30,000 participants on its cross-country tour. Along the
way, ROADSHOW uncovered a wealth of amazing finds, including the most
valuable object appraised on the 2004 Tour: a rare and historically
important pocket watch valued at a whopping $250,000; an heirloom set of
blueprints and letters from Frank Lloyd Wright to a "dissatisfied
customer;" a spangled outfit worn by Elvis; and the first official map of
Lewis and Clark's expedition to Oregon.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is seen by more than ten million viewers each week and
has spun off a new, magazine-style series, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW FYI,
premiering Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 8pm ET on PBS (check local
listings). ROADSHOW FYI takes viewers in search of answers to questions
raised on ROADSHOW: What happened to the most memorable treasures after the
owners left the convention hall? Where can you go to get the best deals?
What collectibles are hot right now? What do ROADSHOW appraisers dream of
collecting? Wrapping up each episode, "Missing Masterpieces" scans the
latest headlines and the archives for stories of great objects gone astray.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is sponsored by Toyota, Liberty Mutual Insurance and
Ameriquest Mortgage Company. Additional funding is provided by public
television viewers.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is produced for PBS by WGBH Boston. Executive producer is
Marsha Bemko.
