Philadelphia Magazine Teams With CBS 3 to Form New Partnership Alliance

The coming new year will break new ground
for two of the Philadelphia region's premier media organizations, as
Philadelphia Magazine and CBS 3 join forces in a unique partnership
alliance, bringing both readers and viewers the latest news and hottest
trends across the airwaves, the page and the web. Kicking off with the
magazine's January issue, which will hit newsstands Jan 1, both CBS 3 and
Philadelphia Magazine see the partnership as a natural outgrowth of the
collaborative relationship the two organizations have had for several
years.
"We're very excited about this new venture," stated David H. Lipson, Jr.,
President of Philadelphia Magazine and parent company Metrocorp. "CBS 3 is
one of the fastest growing TV stations in the country. Having worked
together for the past four years on our annual Best of Philly celebration
and, since 2001, our annual television special, this collaboration seemed
like a logical next step, and it offers a great opportunity to take our
alliance to a new level in a way that will benefit both audience bases."
Said Peter Dunn, President and General Manager for CBS 3 and UPN 57, "This
is a win-win partnership all around. Philadelphia Magazine is the premier
monthly publication in the area, and CBS 3 is committed to becoming the
leading broadcast news organization. We're delighted to join forces with
them and merge our resources to provide both viewers and readers with
cutting-edge coverage of our region."
The partnership will offer new features to both organizations' audiences.
CBS 3 viewers will see Philadelphia Magazine's style and dining coverage,
and magazine readers will see published reports from the CBS 3 newsroom,
including timely consumer reporting from Jim Donovan. The magazine will
provide content for the CBS 3 Sunday Morning Show each week, as well as
content for the weekday 4:00 p.m. and weekend newscasts on the latest
trends in dining, shopping and real estate. In addition, CBS 3 will include
a link to www.phillymag.com on their website, and Philadelphia Magazine
will include a CBS 3 news ticker on the magazine's website home page.
Specific content will be determined by CBS 3's Vice President and News
Director Susan Schiller and Philadelphia Magazine Editor in Chief Larry
Platt. "The folks at Channel 3 have just the right attitude for us,"
stated Platt. "Like us, they take their work extremely seriously,
recognizing the awesome power of the media. And like us, they take our
region seriously. Most of all, like us, they don't take themselves too
seriously."
Adds Schiller, "Larry has given the magazine a very different look, as well
as a new news edge since becoming editor. This partnership gives us both
the ability to step out of the box and find new ways to give our audiences
significant added value and greater depth of coverage than either of us
could do alone. It's an exciting new step for all of us."
CBS 3 (KYW-TV), Philadelphia's first television station, is owned and
operated by the Viacom Television Stations Group.
Founded in 1908 as a quarterly illustrated magazine published by the Trades
League of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Magazine has been in continuous

D. Herbert Lipson took the helm as Publisher in 1961, and in 1986, the

April, 2003, Marian Conicella was named Publisher while David Lipson
