Recall Corporation Launches Revolutionary New Web-Based Media Management System
Unparalleled State-of-the-Art Service Offers Industry's Most Accurate, Flexible Tape Management and Disaster Recovery System
Today, Recall Corporation launches ReQuest(SM)
Media Manager, a groundbreaking web-based inventory management program that
will revolutionize the data protection industry by giving businesses
unprecedented control over back-up data inventory. The program, developed
with software leader B&L and proprietary to Recall, can help businesses
keep an up-to-the-minute inventory of their in-house and off-site data,
enabling 100 percent accuracy in inventory management and tape rotation.
"ReQuest Media Manager is miles ahead of the competition because it
provides companies with an end-to-end solution to their media management
needs," explains Warren McDougall, director, strategic services. "Ten
years of research and development went into the program and right now it's
two-generations ahead of anything else in the industry, providing companies
the most accurate and turnkey day-to-day management and disaster recovery
available."
The program, hosted by Recall, interfaces with all existing media
management systems including CA-1, RMM, VERITAS NetBackup & Backup Exec,
Legato NetWorker, BakBone NetVault, Syncsort Backup Express, Hewlett
Packard OpenView Omniback II and Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve.
It can even support programs businesses have developed in-house, making it
the industry's most flexible system.
Users will have real-time inventory reconciliation and advanced reporting
capabilities through the ability to produce reports and report filters for
every level, including description, return date or DR code. Users can even
track individual tapes in cases, preventing loss of data. Through "Smart
Move" and "Smart Reconcile," users track the flow of tapes to and from
their company to Recall and are notified if tapes are missing from the
lists. The program also keeps track of businesses' disaster recovery
lists.
Previously, companies managed their tapes through VTMS Connect, a
modem-based tool that limited customers to tape tracking within their own
system and required software installation on all users' computers. With
ReQuest Media Manager, customers can have a complete look at their entire
inventory anywhere, anytime, on the Internet.
ReQuest Media Manager offers a true 360 degree tape management system and
is targeted for customers with a heavy tape rotation. It provides security
through a 128-bit AES encryption and generates reports in PDF format that
can't be manipulated by readers.
