Football and Women's Soccer Unite to Encourage the Nation to Vote

What:

Tiki Barber, Amani Toomer and Kurt Warner from the New York Giants, Brandon Short from the Carolina Panthers and Brandi Chastain and Christie Rampone from the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team will preside over The NASDAQ Market Open.

Where:

NASDAQ MarketSite -- 4 Times Square -- 43rd & Broadway -- Broadcast Studio

When:

Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. EST

Why:

On Election Day, The NASDAQ Stock Market is proud to welcome various professional athletes who have come together to inspire the freedom of choice and encourage the nation to vote.

Tiki Barber, Amani Toomer, Kurt Warner and Brandon Short are all active participants of the "Join the Team - Vote" campaign. "Join the Team - Vote" is a non-partisan voter registration and mobilization initiative that is supported by the NFL and its players. Throughout the fall, teams and players have done their part to encourage people to get out and vote. Working with their state board of elections the NY Giants and Carolina Panthers set-up voter registration booths at home football games where interested fans could register to vote or receive information on the voting process. The goal of the initiative is to encourage people to get out and do their civic duty...VOTE.

Brandi Chastain and Christie Rampone are currently travelling with the 2004 Olympic gold medal-winning U.S. Women's National Soccer Team on the 10-game "Fan Celebration Tour," where they will take on Denmark on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Giants Stadium in a match broadcast live on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
