Fashion Designer Linda Loudermilk Introduces New Organic Fabric 'Luxury- Eco' Spring '05 Line
To Add Luxury to Eco -- 'Environmentally-Friendly' Textiles Including Organic Cotton, Silk & Pointelle Bamboo Are Accented With Vintage Lace and Nature-Inspired Applique

As Olympus Fashion Week kicks off in New
York (September 8-13), fashionistas from both coasts and beyond are
welcoming in a new era in elegance thanks to eco-friendly, European
acclaimed, courtier Loudermilk and her landmark line of 'Luxury-Eco'
designer sportswear for Spring 2005.
For decades, the terms Luxury and Eco seldom intertwined in the designer
world. All too often, the environmentally-aware woman was confined to
wearing shapeless sacks of scratchy ill-woven fibers to be true to her
cause. Loudermilk says she strives to shatter out-dated concepts of eco,
recycled, organic and vintage.
Ushering in a new upscale sector of sustainable style, Loudermilk caters to
the demands of discerning fashion-forward females and a burgeoning "green"
marketplace. According to the Organic Trade Association, organic-fiber
products in the U.S. and Canada grew 22 percent annually between 1999 and
2003, their eco-choices rang in $85 million for organic fashions last year
and are set for an even greater increase in 2005.
EXCLUSIVE ORGANIC FABRICS.........
Premiering in Spring '05 is Loudermilk's custom-blended Herbal Woven
category of organic fabrics. This avante-garde blend of Japanese paper,
herbs, vitamins and amino acids is said to feature anti-allergen and
anti-bacterial properties. Also featured is a new type of Pointelle Bamboo
fiber grown green so it is non-polluting and offers new breathability,
coolness and also an anti-bacterial agent. Selections from a
specially-formulated organic cotton also complement the eco-fabrics.
Loudermilk notes that all of the organic wovens are surprisingly supple,
yet sturdy and even washable.
"Who Will Nurture The Earth" is the question and theme that Loudermilk
poses in her Spring '05 collection. Her goal she explains is "to speak the
soul of my vision to elevate sustainability and environmentalism to high
fashion." Combining training as a sculptor and courtier with a passion
for the environment, she fashions her collection with an artist's
sensibility so that couture and recycled materials combine with the new
eco-friendly fabrics to create canvas for her luxury-eco designs.
Loudermilk's previous European acclaimed Paris runway show offered a peek
into her prowess that is now fulfilled in the designer's Spring I and
Spring II lines.
"My inspiration comes from all aspects of nature," she explains. Even the
Spring '05 color choices are named for natural elements as strong
silhouettes of Dove and Stone harmonize with energetic influences of
Citrine complementing the exuberance of Flamingo and warming rays of
Sunshine accented by the allure of Bluejay and the splendor of Sunset. "I
challenged myself to delve beyond basic black to a natural panorama of hues
spanning from sky to earth to ocean and beyond," she says.
Like the objects she once sculpted, her clothes are created as art for the
body. The designs reflect different dimensions of light and darkness
throughout the day into evening. Look closely and you'll see subtle
organic influences, as fluid pants flow like blue streams and dress draping
fans down the back like a peacocks tail. Figure-forming tanks trimmed with
vintage-lace complement bias-cut skirts that shimmer in the breeze. Her
timeless styling redefines the term designer sportswear for the active
woman's world of home, work and travel.
The intersection of luxury and eco in her line prompts peace of mind and
adds style to Hollywood celebrity models and personalities ranging from
Debra Messing to Maria Bello to Farrah Fawcett and Katherine Moennig, whose
stylists select Linda Loudermilk to be sure their star-power strut the
right stuff at the recent MTV Video Music Awards and even on the red carpet
of the Academy Awards. From the cover of TV GUIDE to COSMOPOLITAN
close-ups to HARPER'S BAZAAR spreads en español, the Loudermilk look is
gathering fashion momentum and generating fans around the globe.
All Loudermilk designs are hand-sewn and tailored in her Los Angeles studio
adjacent to famous Sunset Boulevard and available at fine specialty stores
worldwide from Mahna Mahna in Tokyo to Browns in London to Fred Segal in
Santa Monica to Bilzerian in Boston to Blake in Chicago and Wink in
Houston.
