U.S. Wind Farming to plans to utilize State-of-the-Art GE Wind Turbines to Assist the California Energy Commission in Reducing Bird Deaths

The California Energy Commission (www.energy.ca.gov) recently announced that the new, 520-page report, titled "Developing Methods to Reduce Bird Mortality in the Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area," suggests that the installation of new, taller wind turbines at California's second largest wind farm could significantly reduce the annual number of bird deaths, currently ranging from 1,766 to 4,721.

According to the Commission, the report recommends that the existing dangerous wind turbines in the Altamont Pass area be relocated and that broken, non-operating wind turbines be removed. The Commission further recommends that new structures at the ends of wind turbine strings to divert birds be installed and that management practices to control rodents at the bases of the turbines be implemented.

The report, which was funded by the Energy Commission's Public Interest Energy Research program and conducted by BioResource Consultants, can be found online at 'http://www.energy.ca.gov/reports/reports--500.html'.

The Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area contains the second largest wind resource in California, and it could be relied upon to meet a significant part of the state's renewable portfolio standard of 13% by 2010 and 20% by 2017. U.S. Wind Farming (Pink Sheets: USWF), America's only publicly traded wind farming company, will establish cooperatives within this area to help the CEC meet these goals.

"We are in the process of conducting studies for this potential long-term project, with the goal of forming Renewable Energy co-ops on a foundation of small clusters of large, state-of-the-art General Electric (NYSE: GE) wind turbines, 1.5 and 2.5 megawatt in size," stated William Telander, CEO. U.S. Wind Farming will conduct a Repowering Program to meet the CEC's determinations 'http://www.awea.org/wew/816-1.html'.

U.S. Wind Farming Inc. is an emerging public renewable energy developer and operator forming Renewable Energy co-ops on a foundation of small clusters of large, state-of-the-art General Electric wind turbines (1.5 MW and 2.5 MW). The turbines utilize unique GE technology for long, reliable performance, variable speed control and independent blade pitch for reduced loads, cost effective operation, and unique Wind Volt-Amp-Reactive electronics for local grid support and improved transmission efficiencies. GE's state-of-the-art wind turbines are aviary friendly.
