Real Del Mar Resort – A Place Upon the Ocean

Just a half hour from Tijuana, there’s a resort on the hillside that overlooks the ocean. In all its splendor, it has the architecture of a Spanish hacienda with an 18 hole golf course, a spa, the Alba Soul Italian Restaurant, a church and a grocery store. This is the Real Del Mar Resort.

What’s not to like, with the quaintness of 76 suites and studios set on a hillside?
On this occasion, I took the liberty of strolling throughout the golf course, checking the layout. Golfers like this course because it’s challenging. I’m just glad I didn’t have to walk the whole course.

Restaurant

The Alba Soul Italian Restaurant is quaint and set up family style. They serve an array of pizzas on thin crust, with all sorts of vegetables and meats. They also serve some wonderful Italian dishes such as Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Marsala, and Eggplant Parmesan. They deliver the pizzas on mop heads for efficient service. We started off our evening with homemade mushroom soup. The Italian spinach salad was exceptional, included with our main entrees.

Here’s the recipe I was able to get from the Executive Chef Enrique Lomele.

First get a cup of virgin olive oil, a third cup of balsamic vinegar, two garlic cloves minced, two tablespoons of Italian dressing, baby spinach, a cup of grape tomatoes, four green onions sliced, and one cup of shredded part skimmed mozzarella cheese. Now you have quite the salad.

The main entrees served by our knowledgeable waiter, Angel Aguilar were spaghetti, with marinara sauce and Mahi-mahi, Sicilian style. Mahi is a strong-flavored fish that can swim up to fifty miles an hour. It definitely has its own taste. Chef prepared a seven ounce filet with Barilla whole grain linguine, ten cherries, a half teaspoon of saffron, one garlic clove, two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a half glass of Prosecco, but in this case, a dry white wine and one tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley.

A different way of exploring other avenues of Italian cuisine Sicilian style.

Cocktail Lounge – Golf Course

This is where patrons try their taste buds to various Tequilas in the rich yet authentic atmosphere of a private club feel, with laid back couches in a very cozy, romantic setting.

Without getting too many drinks, it’s just a few steps to the hotel, where the family can prepare for the next morning for a round of golf. I would strongly suggest taking one of the golf carts rather than walking the course, unless you are really fit. After all, it takes much concentration playing the game of golf and one can use all their energy on a hot day. But not to worry, there’s always a stocked cart driving the course to make sure golfers are hydrated and have something to snack on.
