Revel Systems, a Point of Sale software company, has hired Randy Chin, as part of their Information Technology leadership team. Chin is also the Restaurant Technology Instructor at UC Berkeley Extension and has more than twenty years of senior IT management experience. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.

According to a press release issued by Revel Systems, Mr. Chin “has provided restaurant IT consulting services to many independent, quick service, fast casual, and fine dining restaurants across the country. Randy is one of the top restaurant and technology experts in the United States.”

Point of Sale software, also known as checkout software, is used by retailers large and small to handle sales transactions. With the advent of smaller, relatively inexpensive devices, the cost of systems has reduced drastically. Many POS solutions now run on iPads and other tablets.

Revel Systems’ software is a Point of Sale solution specifically for iPad, which can be connected to a receipt printer, cash drawer, and card swipe unit. The software manages transactions in real time, so managers can track store or restaurant sales using any Internet browser, as they happen.

For restaurants, Revel also has a kitchen display system, using an Apple iPad, rather than linking to a kitchen printer.
