Carnuwax Owner Reportedly In Secret Talks to Buy Clippers from Donald Sterling

The NBA Clippers controversy just got more interesting. As most of the civilized world knows by now, Los Angeles Clippers basketball team owner Donald T. Sterling was secretly taped by his girlfriend, who he was having an argument with. She reportedly leaked the tape, and that tape revealed Mr. Sterling telling her not to hang around with black men in public and not to bring them to the games.

The argument between the two created a firestorm within the NBA that rippled out like a tidal wave, getting everyone from newscasters, stars, and kids debating the issue. Should Sterling be punished? Should he be fined or forced to sell the team? What should happen to him?

The answer was quickly handed down by the NBA. After NBA players threatened to strike and boycott The Clippers if Sterling was not handed a swift and severe punishment.

The NBA did just that.

Banned for life from ever attending any NBA game, fined nearly two and a half million dollars, and being pushed to sell the team, Donald Sterling got smacked down – hard. What will happen to him next is up in the air.

But now, one Hollywood producer and entrepreneur, Carl Urbin, CEO of the international company Carnuwax, has reportedly expressed interest in negotiating a purchase of the team. Carl, who spent much of his life growing up in Hollywood, evidently knows a good deal when he sees one. He reportedly invested in Carnuwax – made from the palm leaves of the Brazilian Carnauba wax, and within less than ten years with his company, sold over 1 million bottles of the wax, which is used by members of the World Cup and Daytona 500 among others.

Carl Urbin joins a growing list of interested buyers, including media mogul Oprah Winfrey, and now also reportedly, David Geffen. But will the team owner sell? Sterling, spotted this week by celebrity tabloid site TMZ dining in Beverly Hills, had no comment to the press. Carl Urbin, who is working on a new film concerning human rights, could not be reached in time for this story.
