Camellia Steele: Young Artist on the Rise

Camellia Steele is a pretty, young artist, who turns heads with a model look, as a nearly six foot tall 16 year old teenager. It is her talent as a painter however, for which she is now currently becoming widely known. She has clients around the world who have bought multiple pieces of her work, trusting wisely that the value of her works will grow. With people from all walks of life becoming collectors of the young artist, Camellia Steele is definitely a young artist on the rise, and worthy of paying attention to.

Hollywood Sentinel: Hello Camellia. How long have you been painting now?

Camellia: I’ve been painting since I was really little. I took classes at Mission: Renaissance when I was 4 years old. Then I didn’t really paint for years. A couple of years ago I started picking it back up again and it’s been a fun journey ever since.

Hollywood Sentinel: Nice, why did you start painting?

Camellia: I used to see people paint and I really wanted to be as good as they were. So I just started painting all the time and I got really good at it. I just practiced as much as I could.

Hollywood Sentinel: Great. What do you want to do further with your painting career?

Camellia: I want to get better and better at it, get more experience, have a career of it which is already happening. I just don’t want to stop. If I’m not painting, then I’m drawing. People have actually bought some of my drawings. I’m also really excited that art lovers can now get some my images on greeting cards. I love the idea of someone sending one of my greeting cards far away like to another state or country. The most popular one being the “Love” image I made.

Hollywood Sentinel: Nice. Where have you shown your work?

Camellia: In the beginning people heard of my work through word of mouth. They would just come to the house and buy art from me. I’ve been very fortunate to have my prints in shops, and boutiques. I have created logos that people wanted me to do including a movie production company, and there are shows I have done which feature my work, most recently, ‘The Met’ in downtown L.A. (you tube video below), and placing my work in galleries has also been fun.

Hollywood Sentinel: Good. Explain to us a bit about your painting

process.

Camellia: First I visualize what I want it to be, then I lay out the steps. If I’m working with animals, I will draw it out first in a sketch, which is a loose drawing. If I am doing say a sky- scape, I just start painting. Sometimes I change things along the way which creates movement in the piece.

Some of the commission work I do is very specific. I’ll get an e-mail and someone will say, ‘Can you paint me a bear for my company logo?’ But when I get someone that says, “I just want a ‘Camellia Steele’ painting, I go into create mode and just do what I want. All of it’s very fun. This is what I love doing the most!

Hollywood Sentinel: Great. It was good speaking with Camellia, continued success with your work.

Camellia: Thank you!
