The official trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man debuted Tuesday, but the pressure is still on for Andrew Garfield in succeeding Tobey Maguire, who originated the role of the web-slinging superhero in three summer blockbusters that grossed over two billion dollars worldwide.
“I’m terrified right now” he said to the audience at a multiplex at a presentation in New York. “This is so overwhelming to be representing this symbol because that’s all I am, the guy in the suit.”

However, Andrew has already been receiving praise from Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, who recently told Access Hollywood that the young actor “captures the essence of Peter Parker.”
Like Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, which ends with July 20’s The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man is a dark reboot of the franchise, as Peter Parker’s search to the mysteries of his past will lead him to becoming Spider-Man, who becomes a wanted vigilante by the NYPD led by Captain George Stacy (Denis Leary), the father of Parker’s love interest Gwen (Emma Stone).
“Gwen falls in love with Peter Parker, and I think Mary Jane [Watson] falls in love with Spider-Man” Stone stated during a similar presentation at Rio de Janeiro.

The Amazing Spider-Man will spin his web July 3.
