Soul On Fire Book Review

Warning: Get the tissues out before you start this book and keep them well stocked as you read.

‘Soul on Fire’ is one of the most emotional books I have read. The main character Dana really has been through the ringer. She has a successful businesswomen and has made a name for herself in Atlanta but everything else in her life seems to be falling apart.

She suffers from terrible nightmares involving masked men. In her dream, a little girl was scared by the masked and it always happens at the same time of morning, 3:00 am. These dreams lead her to seek solace in love and affection from men, many men, even a married one that she has a long unhealthy affair with.

All of these mess lead her to see a psychiatrist for help, Dr. Mitchell hoping she can explain the dreams and Dana’s sexaholic behavior. Dr. Mitchell helps Dana unravel a past. Dana had no idea she had buried a past and even more terrifying that she finds out it involved molestation.

Dana now has to face this and figure out why she jumps from man to man and how she can’t commit to a healthy relationship.

Meanwhile the affair with the married man blows up in her face and an argument with her best friend sends her over the edge.

I cried my eyes out numerous times while reading this book. I really felt for Dana. It seemed to be one thing after another that just unloaded on her and right when you think she is starting to figure it all out, something else blows your mind. It is an amazing story and it is beautifully written. It is entertaining, brimming with pain and heartache that you felt with the character and I couldn’t put it down. I just had to see what happened to Dana next.

I do have to warn anyone who does not like or cannot handle explicit sex scenes or foul language, this book is not for you. I however found it delightful. It was sad but it was a nice change from the typical love story. This book was so much more realistic. I know there are plenty of people out there that have problems committing to relationships or problems with self-esteem because of things that happened to them. Books like this bring it out and make people realize it. I find that to be a very useful and helpful thing.

As far as I am concerned this book was sad but amazing and is a must read. It will most definitely open up some eyes! It had wonderful talent, was intriguing until the very end and I give it a big five stars!
