Reddit Users Helping a Mom During Huge Tragedy

This Memorial Day weekend was a very tragic one for a mother in New Hampshire. She lost her husband because of a motor cycle accident, leaving behind 3 precious children. No one is prepared for something like that to happen. This mother did something that is not easy to do, but like any parent, she would do anything to take care of her kids and their future: She asked strangers for help.

This mom has been a member of Reddit for over 3 years. She posted this seeking help:

My husband was killed yesterday, sometime before 9am, when he was cutoff in traffic by a driver who states he “just didn’t see him.” Here’s a link to the news story.

My husband was wearing all his gear (over $900 worth of jackets, helmets, gloves, pants, and boots). His helmet clip malfunctioned, snapped apart, and his helmet flew off. He was left powerless when he smashed into the pavement.

I’m told he died on impact. The doctors say his upper spinal cord snapped. I laid down with him in the hospital. I held his hand and kissed him. I don’t want to ever forget the way he felt, his touch… I’ll never get to feel his touch again.

We have three young kids; my daughter is four and my twin boys are 18 months. He was the sole breadwinner in our home. I am a graduate student, staying at home to raise our kids. I haven’t worked in over five years. I’m not sure what to do now… I’m just trying to cover funeral costs, our debt, moving out of our home (and closer to my mother), my kids college fund… anything.

My friend helped me set up a GoFundMe page. I was told that I should put the info up here. This is the link to that.

My husband was my best friend and the greatest man I ever knew. I don’t know what I’m going to do without him. I’m an empty and shattered. I woke up this morning hoping it was all a dream and he would be right there with me in bed.

This is my husband, with our babies. I love you, baby. I miss you so much

motorycycle accident

Reddit is known for its members coming together to help strangers out in time of need. As I am writing this article, her GoFundMe page has brought her up to $16,275 which includes 1 anonymous donation of $10,000. No amount of money will replace this husband and father. No amount of money will take the pain away, but at least she will be able to lay him to rest and be able to take care of her family while starting the difficult journey of putting the pieces of their lives back together.

Even if you can not donate yourself, if you could share this story to help a stranger out, I am sure she will appreciate that.
